On April 10, 2023, the construction of the Sick Room and Library was completed, with the ceremony presided over by Mrs. Thayani Krishnakaran, President of SWO, and the commemorative plaque unveiled by Mrs. Sivasunthary Prabakaran, SWO Coordinator.
The project, with a budget of Rs 7.0 million, was one of Mahalirillam’s many initiatives. The construction was co-funded by the Sydney Murugan, Friends of Sri Lanka Inc., and Mahalirillam, Australia.

E-Library Project @ Girls Home
The Thilakavathyar Girls’ Home e-library was inaugurated on August 29, 2023, with Mr. Thirunavukarasu, advisor to the Puthukudyirruppu Social Welfare Organization, presiding over the ceremony. Mrs. S. Prabakaran, the organization’s Coordinator, and her team were also present. Mr. Ragulan, Deputy Principal of Kandumani Maha Vidyalaya Batticaloa/Pattirupu, Palugamam, attended as a distinguished guest.
The e-library provides the girls with access to online resources, enhancing their educational opportunities. The Jaffna Hindu Ladies Old Girls’ Association Sydney and Mahalirillam funded the acquisition of computers. The e-library is now fully operational, with a teacher assigned to train the students.
